Permanent steel sheet piles are designed to provide a long service life.
Sheet piles are sections of "sheet" materials with interlocking edges that are driven into the ground to provide earth retention. Sheet pile walls are often used for below-grade parking structures, basements, foundations, and of course, seawalls.
Steel sheet piling is advantageous because of its light weight, it has a high resistance to driving stresses, and, it is less likely to deform during driving. When using steel sheet piles, it is easy to adapt the length of the piles by welding or bolting. Steel sheet piling provides a long service life both above, and below the water, with moderate protection.
